Lotus & Michael have decades of experience in the fashion industry, so it makes sense we start our own clothing line, right?
Sure.
But the calling came from our lifestyle.
Start with our garden. Produces lovely flowers for us. We don’t just look at them; we make tea from our Peonies, we use them for skin toner, and Lotus paints the celebrated Tree Peony flower as an homage to its rare beauty, as well as the beautiful orchid that is so special to us we call it “Lady in the Attic.”
More than that, we honor the flowers that we enjoy by embroidering them on our garments. Our multifunctional garments, which we wear on almost every occasion are not dyed with chemicals; they are plant dyes from gardenia, onion and more.
All of this, we document with our videos, where we give a free look at our favorites while wearing our garments.
This formula defines Lotus & Michael.

Tea eggs. What are tea eggs? Originally a staple at Chinese breakfast, Michael adapted the use of tea (in dried or fresh form) with other savory and spicy ingredients to be boiled with and infused into eggs which are boiled with the shells cracked; the eggs keep their character, but add a delicate savory flavor. Take a look:

You will notice that the lovely yellow shirt Michael is wearing is our Gardenia Plant Dyed “Leap- Michael’s Gardenia Shirt.”
Then what do we do with our 15 peony plants after they have bloomed? Just watch the flowers fade and fall to the ground? NO. Among other things, we make roasted black Peony tea. We also did a video of this so you can easily DIY at home. Watch below:
Lotus is wearing one of our newest Plant Dyed fabrics, our indigo (real indigo, not chemical) Indigo Summer ruched crepe, a soft, natural go-to fabric for the hot weather or the beach in a ready to wear version of the most iconic Asian dress, the Qipao, with Orchid Embroidery. Lovely for gardening too!
Some flowers are so beautiful that Lotus must immortalize them with oil paint on canvas. Such is her painting of the Yellow Yao, the king of Tree Peonies. Its dense and delicate leaves begging to be remembered. Of course, we made a video, set to the Chinese musical poem, “The Pure White Moonlight.“ Have a look:

And so it goes. There are 88 videos on our You Tube channel and, as the channel says, they are a slice of our real lives. We did not do these videos to impress or sell you something. We started Lotus & MIchael because it all fit together: What we wear, grow, cook, eat, drink, plant, paint is who we are. Nature is calling us, we are listening, and our lives are better for it.
No plastic, no synthetics, no processed food. Everything is real.
